Waffles

The reallllyyyyy nice waffles!!! :D :D :D :D :D okie. five smiley faces! And the piano fees seemed to have hiked up, so yay! Good news to me :p

Luke 17: 11 - 37

- The Israelites were God's Chosen Nation, yet they rejected God and abandoned His ways and God extended His love to the Gentiles as well. Sometimes, it's those people that you expect something in return who disappoint you and sometimes it's those people whom you do not expect anything who surprises you.
- Jesus told the ten lepers to "Go and be healed". And indeed, they first need to go, before they can be healed. The importance of obedience.
- The kingdom of God is in the midst of you, manifested in Jesus himself and the kingdom as people who are following Jesus.
- Jesus will come in a very obvious way, just like how the lightning lights up the sky. So don't follow any other false teachings about Jesus coming in a mysterious way.
- The day that the Son of Man is revealed, may be like 'just any other day', that we are all doing our daily routines and all. Also found in somewhere else in the bible where it says the Son of Man will come like a thief in the night, catching people unaware and offguard.
- Do not turn back that day when the Son of Man comes. Forget about all the earthly belongings. There's more upstairs (: and these will last.

Charm is deceptive

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised (:

Acts 16

- The churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day (v5)

- Timothy's father is a Greek (i.e., he's not a pure Jew) yet God is able to use Timothy in an amazing way to do His work. Reminds me again that God does not need perfect people, but rather He works through imperfect people to show how great He is. Like how Jesus called the fishermen to be His disciples, those who were the 'outcast'/'bottom' of society.

- Paul and Silas travelled through Phyrgia and Galatia because the Holy Spirit prevented them from preaching the word in Asia. Paul and Silas went through Mysia to the seaport of Troas because the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to head north for the province of Bithynia. Sometimes, life really doesn't go our way. But it always and will forever follow God's ways. Something cliche, but the saying God's ways are higher than our ways, and if you can't see God's ways, feel his hands (or something along this line hehe). Yup simple yet profound.

- Truly, God has already prepared Lydia to accept Paul's message, and she extended hospitality to Paul and Silas by inviting them to stay in her house.

- The famous earthquake that set Paul and Silas free in prison. They were publicly stripped and beaten with wooden rods :( just because Paul commanded the demon in the girl to leave her in the name of Jesus (and because the demon knew the Only way to salvation). Paul and Silas could have declared that they were Roman citizens and then they do not have to go through the beating and shame. But they didn't. Hmmm...

- If they did, they wouldn't have met the jailer. The jailer would not have the chance to listen to the Word and be saved, that he and his entire household would not have been baptized. Bad things do work out to become good things in God's plan. (: and also this is another testimony of the power of God, who sent this earthquake to free Paul and Silas.

- Don't be ashamed of the Word of God, for it has to Power to give life, the Power to save. Blessed are those who understand the Word of God. Because it is truly a gift, and grace from God :)

bukit panjang govt high band

Hi! Chanced upon this disc of 2002 band comp video. which i can't remember who lent it to me (but apparently i should have returned to disc teehee). and it was hilarious!! bowen's drum major's major moment. hehe!! :D

And all that said, it brings me back to those days. Stayed back in school for countless band pracs? And i remember before it is our turn, we always have to prepare ourselves when the other band's still doing their show. Really miss the sec 1 and sec 2 times. So much to remember :)

Isn't it scary that your whole life is actually made up of what you remember and what you don't? And its also kinda amazing that there are certain things that no matter how many years have passed, they'll forever be in my mind.

5.28.2011

j'aime faire du shopping et manger! :D

see how well i remember my francais! :D

Manz, full max! Had delifrance dinner with rachel (by the way we shared one main course hahah budget max) then came home and had a jelly ice cream plus finished the mango cupcake from yesterday and the sushi from two days ago :/ oops. cannot accumulate food like how you accumulate readings) and so i'm FULL MAX NOW!!!!

Bought a pretty clock today!! :D which makes me a happy girl :D teehee. And had a nice time out at bugis today though was really tired from that shopping. Many nice things around but too bad money is not all around. hehe.

Yes been reflecting about life, and rachel kind of reminded me that we should indeed be grateful that we manage to get into local u. In her words, life is not easy (and then she said something about challenges oops forgot the exact words). But i come to appreciate all that has happened in my life! Feel like i learn a lot. hehe

Je suis etudiant en psychologie

BONJOUR! :D j'aime francais, mais c'est difficile bien :(

so it's back to speaking english. haha i really like psychology too, but i realize that i really dislike the bio part. somehow i just cannot remember those terms, or rather i need to spend like extra effort remembering the names of those terms and how it's spelt and which one falls under what. which is just ridiculous. prefer my human motivation so much more and cognitive psych without the serotonin, acetylcholine, dopamine, hetamine whatever. HAHA!

human motivation is very interesting! except that there's quite a lot of overlap and all. kinda confusing. a few more days to go michelle tan! THEN WATER FOR ELEPHANTS! hehehee. :D

anyways kinda strange that i woke up with a sore throat given that the night before didn't have sore throat at all. but thank God its not as bad now! :D

5.03.2011

times of exams!

A BIG shoutout to michelle tan, my one and only reader of this blog!! MUAHA. Today is stay home day 2! Abnormal psych is unbelievable tedious to read :/ and i honestly feel that this year's elections are like more like a 'big deal' than the other times!! hahaha. Too bad we can't vote!

Bakery story and Restaurant story have become my good friends!! :D

In essence, this is just a meaningless post. HAHA. A place where i can be free of brain activity for a moment! :D

Dreams

It's been a long time blog! Bonjour!! Actually french is really a nice and elegant language, maybe just that its really not easy studying it in such a short time :p hehehehe

I really like that dreams tell you what you subconsciously are concerned/thinking about. Though the content may not exactly be something that makes sense, but the very least, the people that appear in the content is really who you are thinking about during the day.

Have you ever woke up and really felt thank God this didn't happen in real life and then gain a new perspective on things? haha it's a little like grace to me, I feel that i could feel/experience what would have happened if certain things turned out the certain way that i didnt want it to turn out. And then you really start to change your attitude. hehe

SO GLAD SCHOOL'S GONNA BE OUT SOON! :D somehow this semester, is (like all other sems), fast yet slow. like, it's over already?! haha. but i'm really glad that this semester is over, maybe timetable wise. the timetable really isn't good :p but okay lah still survived through it :)

Time to switch to mugging mode soon!! And i really like human motivation hehe though it's quite cheem.

And i think my writing is so lousy compared to michelle's writing :( but i don't have enough intellect juices to refine my writing here!! hehe save that for assignments :D

Au revoir!

3.19.2011

amis

bonsoir! :) this is the first recess week that i'm not really mugging for a mid term after the week. :) life, is really all about memories. Really scary to one day forget everything in your brain :o and also in a way, isn't it amazing that certain things just can't seem to be erased while certain other things don't even make an impression to you.

God is certainly a good and faithful God. He is also a righteous God and indeed we are very blessed in Singapore, that its really almost natural-disaster-free.

Bonne nuit!

2.16.2011

Engage!

Engage has been so fruitful thus far :) though it isn't really say everything new new to me, but it reminded me, or in a sense, pointed out to me, that these things that i already knew about, they should not be like just know-know, but it is really something that I have to deal with, something that I have to relearn again :)

Isn't that interesting?

Proverbs 16

Today's charissa's birthday and crashing steamboat at zhi wen's place! (plus piano lessons in the morning and late afternoon and human motivation tutorial in between :p) Very blessed to have the chance to know these university friends, given that I really planned to come to university and not having make much new friends because I don't like attend any camps/whatever else there is. :) yup! And discovered a new side of jeannette!! hahahahhaha. And I'm getting to play mahjong more now! Too bad my family is like three people, can't even play a mahjong. And also very blessed that i can still meet up with my jc friends given that jc is like two years ago already. All things happen for a reason right? (Freud haha)

Proverbs 16

The Lord's sovereignty & His favor on the righteous

1) The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. (like wow, what a verse! I like how ESV phrases these sentences, so nicely and like wow.) Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established. (notice that it is not like 'commit your plans to the Lord and your works will be established'. but commit your work to the Lord! and whatever you have in mind will be established, by the Lord.) The Lord has made everything for its purpose. even the wicked for the day of trouble.
2) Want to know how we can turn away from evil? By the fear of the Lord (v6)
3) The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Its something like point 1, where the Lord is the one who establishes your work.

TBC.. :)

2.10.2011

Proverbs 15

The Lord has been very gracious, to me, to many of mankind. Yay to simon fraser! :) yesterday i really felt so sian, i can't describe that feeling, it's like The Most Sian Day of My Life. but today i feel recharged! :) (at the expanse of french tutorial though hee)

Proverbs 15

1) The eyes of the Lord are EVERYWHERE! keeping watch on the evil and the good. Indeed, how can i ever hide from God??

2) A soft answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger. Really like this verse a lot :) and that Proverbs has quite a lot of talk about how quick anger can often bring about consequences undesired but how a gentle spirit can be so powerful :) & later in the verses, one who is slow to anger quiets contention! :D

3) A gentle tongue is a tree of life!! in Proverbs 13, it also says that a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Tree of life, why does it sound so familiar! It's actually in genesis, in the garden of Eden where the fruit of the Tree of Life, if eaten, gives everlasting life. The fullness and completeness that Christ has intended for the Spirit-filled life is just a little glimpse of how eternity, everlasting life is :)

4) The sacrifice and the way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to God and God loves those who pursues righteousness.

5) Whoever heeds reproof is prudent, but whoever hates reproof will die! :o who are those then who do not like reproof? The scoffers!! & there is sever discipline for him who forsakes the way! Therefore its not that we can just accept God and then leave His way and still expect a good time in life.

6) Even Hell, Hades & The Graves lie open before the Almighty God, how much more is the hearts of the children of man! God really knows the condition and state of my heart. We can have nothing hiding before Him.

7) A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. See how gladness and sorrow can affect the state of your heart, and how the state of your heart is linked to your spirit.

8) Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble with it. Remember what we used to say, that it is better to walk in darkness with the Lord than to walk in the light without God!

9) Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than fattened ox with hatred in it. This is a parallel with the preceding verse (also the preceding point) and I guess it points to the same importance of the fear of the LORD and love, with trouble and hatred. :) for indeed, God is love. Whoever who does not love does not know the LORD! And this verse also reminds me of the hong kong dramas, they always have this very rich family, but there's so much of loneliness in the rich family and so much fight for inheritance vs the poorer family but with loads of warmth in it!

10) thank goodness this post is saved!! :D

11) It is repeated later in the verses, that the Lord hears the prayer of the righteous, and that whoever heeds/listens to reproof and is willing to be reproofed will all have good ways and will become wiser!

In Christ Alone

Have I forgotten my First Love unknowingly?
In so doing of thinking about something else or just being too caught up with life and my responsibilities, have I forgotten how Christ died on the cross for a sinner like me?
He says, a broken and contrite heart He would not despise. Today, this promise takes on a new meaning to me. :) a broken, and contrite heart, God does not despise. Am i broken enough before the Lord?
The Lord is good and faithful. And indeed, if His plan is a perfect plan, why am I not submitting to it?

Proverbs 13

Open the eyes of my heart Lord, open the eyes of my heart, I want to see You, I want to see You.

1) A wise son hears his father's instructions
2) Whoever guards his mouth preserves life and from the fruit of his mouth a person eats what is good. The mouth is actually a very important part of the body in the Christian life.
3) Talking about the state of your soul (whether it is sluggish/diligent) and the benefits of righteousness (that it guards him who is blameless)
4) Life is sometimes paradoxical. The rich may be rich at impoverished because of the fear of someone eyeing on his property.
5) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. What is my hope, and what is my desire then? I should be placing my hope in things that I my certain are the truth right? :)
6) The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life!
7) It is once again repeated - whoever heeds reproof is honoured. Whoever does not listen to advice/instruction is heading for destruction. Be humble enough to heed reproof.
8) A desire fulfilled is sweet to the sould :) [i believe this is talking about a desire that is spiritually pleasing to the Lord]
9) Disaster pursures sinner. (its an intriguing way to put it aye) because usually we think of it as oh ok aiyah nevermind a small little thing only, won't have much consequences. But in fact, no! It is waiting for you to come!!! Or rather, chasing after you.

God is a mysterious God...

Ups and Downs

Life is full of ups and downs. Re-channelling the energy to thinking/rationalizing of all these possibilities into a certain truth I know in Christ! :) it's not gonna be easy, but I'll stick by to my decision - that it won't happen! (michelle tan is my witness hehe)

2.06.2011

da nian chu san

dear diary,

I am really very thankful for these few things, that my mum finally really agree to let me go on exchange, and that she is also very nice (despite the many naggings) to host my friends tonight, though she doesn't really like people coming to our house. washing the plates and all and getting ready for it as well. and also my dad who's mopping the floor now and also agree to let me go on exchange and who really never miss any opportunities to fetch me around if his time permits. actually there are many things in life to be thankful for hoh. :) though there's something that always never really seem to go away, so annoying :(

Proverbs 12

Basically, its also a contrast between the wicked and the righteous. :)

1) The root of the righteous will never be moved. The root of the righteous bear fruits. The house of the righteous will stand.
2) The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. See how it all begins with our thoughts? Indeed, your inner private thoughts reflect who you really are, rather than your outer being.
3) Better to be lowly and have a servant than to play a great man and lack bread. So very true! Be wise in financial plannings!
4) The work of a man's hands come back to him - sow goodness, reap goodness. sow wickedness, reap wickedness!
5) The tongue of the wise brings healin & the prudent ignores an insult rather than pouring forth all his vexations at once.
6) Deceit is in the heart of those who device evil, but those who plan peace have joy. This just gives me a picture of xie mingming + xiaoyu vs wawa. HAHA! those who are always habouring wicked schemes will never get a day of rest.
7) Those who act faithfully are the LORD's delight! :D
8) In the path of righteousness is life, and in its path there is not death. Amen!

This whole week, had been spiritually dry but thank You, for staying by my side. Be thou my vision and be the first in my heart :)

It teks quite a lot of courage to put it down!

2.02.2011

proverbs 10

Proverbs of Solomon

- righteousness delivers from death
- the LORD does not let the righteous go hunry, i.e. The Lord will, will, will provide!
- lazy hands make for poverty but diligent hands bring wealth. We do not just keep 'praying' and yet be lazy and don't be personally responsible for our own actions/behavior and expect God to just deliver whatever we ask of Him.
- don't sleep during harvest! i.e. don't miss the opportunity!!
- whoever walks in integrity will walk securely. actually this is very true. if you never do stuff that jian bu de guang, you won't be afraid that it will be found out by others simply because you have never done such stuff before. therefore, resist temptations!! lead your life in a manner that others will not have a chance to criticize (easier said than done definitely, so gotta pray for grace :))
- hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrong :)
- whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool. isn't that something that we, no, I, may tend to do often?
- what the righteous desire will be granted, amen!
- and actually there are many verse talking about the lips of the righteous/wise and the lips of the evil/perverse/wicked. its interesting to note that how the words that come out of your lips actually is so significant in this proverbs. so don't just anyhow speak, but speak with wisdom. :)

1.25.2011

proverbs 5 [warning against adultery]

For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.

Truly, the way i conduct my life is ultimately accountable to God and God alone. Why walk in the ways of evil and wickedness when you know that God hates evil and wickedness?

Always pay attention to the teachings of God - the wise teachings, that we may maintain discretion and our lips may preserve knowledge (that nothing inconsistent with the true teaching may come out of your lips). And thus not fall into the temptations/traps of wickedness.

Temptations may look very enticing for the very moment (drip honey, smoother than oil), but ultimately it is hideous looking and brings about very bad consequences! (bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword)

And it is very clear that this wickedness lead straight to death!!! And often those who indulge in wickedness do not know that these very acts are leading them to their doom.

Keep to a path far from wickedness! (in this case, adultery)

Embrace discipline and correction, and learn from them and we become wiser! :)

May you ever be intoxicated with her love, not with another man's wife.

1.23.2011

Wisdom bestows well-being [proverbs 3]

let love and faithfulness never leave you. and the famous verse 5 and 6:

trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your path straight. amen!

do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.

do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

wisdom is..
more profitable than silver, yields better returns than gold, more precious than rubies, uncomparable, brings about long life, riches and honor, has pleasant ways, peaceful paths, is a tree of life and brings forth blessings :)

wisdom is kind of essential in the christian life it seems 'they will be life for you'. it guarantees your safety and security, as the Lord will watch over you :)

the LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked but he blesses the righteous :)

in all your ways, submit to him! i guess i lack submission to the Lord, thinking that sometimes somethings can go my way still.. the Lord will make my path straight :)

once again its a good reminder that the Lord should be my only source of security and significance :) it shouldn't be something or someone else :)

1.19.2011

new year!

dear diary,

holidays are gonna be over soon!! so fast! i did many things this holidays, met up with many people whom i didn't meet up with during school term. people like sean, jefri, wei ting, qianqi, dominic, jennifer, qiu rong, jie min, rachel, michelle, soo min, puay bing, zhi wen, michelle hui, grace wang, joanna kam, li sun, xiu min and crusade people! yup all the going out and accumulated and made me sick today! tee.

holidays have also been a time of rest, i guess a slight break from doing ministry, but more of thinking of ministry. i think i really got tired out last sem from ministry and sort of lost the purpose of ministry, something that i know that is really important.

but these few days, during f comm meeting and also ministry planning at st retreat and bible camp, it really refreshed me on about faithfulness in this aspect. yup :) and also i really am impacted by something that happened too!

also i learnt, that nothing beats having a 'good' relationship, in the sense that if it doesn't work out, then so be it, its better that we leave it on good terms rather than turn your face on the other person!

michelle's sleepover was very fun! :) hehe. rachel's party was a good time of reminiscing about the funny moments in bp days all the marching and all. and qiu rong's jokes were like, hahaha very funny!!

its also amazing how the friendship with jennifer can still maintain till now and all :)

kind of looking forward to the next sem and also i didn't really tell anyone about this, but since michelle you're the only one who reads my blog, you can know! haha

i kind of am thankful for my grades this semester, that though it wasn't maintained or increased, but it gave me a break from the stress of maintaining it and all. i guess the stress of maintaining the gpa really really was weighing on my mind. and i am really thankful that i can be doing something that i actually do like. it's like so interesting to read about psych and all :)

though there's still quite a few uncertainities on my mind, but God has really shown Himself to be faithful and true. and thanks haryl for sharing during f comm. God ultimately looks at the heart i know. just really gotta keep praying lor, that during the sem when things really get busy and i get tired, that i will still serve from the inner self, not just fulfilling obligations or responsibilites.

bible reading has also been good! read about ephesians the one on husbands and wives. what that struck me was paul's use of marriage as an illustration of Christ and the church. to think that Christ calls the church His bride, and gave up his life for the church, is something that wowed me. :) that God is really good.

oh michelle want to tell you something too. you know for the past sem i have been praying for samho occasionally, haha that God will comfort her in her times of sorrow and pain. And during your birthday party she says she has been going to church quite regularly, i was really like stunned for a while haha. that God hears my prayers lor :)
